State Senate Democrats Pledge Fight For Health Care, Education

A group of lawmakers say it wants to tap into the energy behind the recent demonstrations and marches against the new federal agenda. 

Democrats in the Ohio Senate say they want to be the voice of the women and progressives who have been demonstrating against President Donald Trump.

Senate Democrats are pledging to push for legislation that protects health care and supports education.

Federal Workers Still in Limbo as Shutdown Drags On

As the federal government shutdown drags into its third week, it has become a sort of background noise, present but not always noticeable. Unless you’re a federal worker, that is; Justine Kelly’s a case in point.

She works at the Social Security Administration, and has been working without pay for weeks.

“This is just so demoralizing,” she said at a Democratic party event in Dayton Monday. “I feel like nobody cares. I feel nobody’s listening, like this is all a game.”

Clark County Democratic Chair Rhine resigns

Clark County Democratic Party Chairman Ron Rhine is planning to retire from his position next year.  A search for a replacement is currently underway.

Rhine took over as party chairman in 2007 after taking over the unexpired term of Charlie Bush. He was elected to the position in 2010.

He also served as a state representative and past president of the UAW International Union. He still serves on the Board of Elections.
