All of us have appreciated the sights, sounds, and smells of Glen Helen….and the wild flowers, raptors, tree frogs, the great blue heron...And almost all poets have nature poems. During this holiday/solstice season those works will be shared, at a poetry reading, "In the Spirit of the Glen," on today from 7-9:00p.m. Vernet Ecological Center at 
405 Corry St in Yellow Springs.

What's Great in Dayton: December 7 - 13, 2012

One of Pop Up Shops that's part of downtown Dayton's Activated Spaces program.

Downtown's First Friday art hop will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. tonight. Activated spaces will host a tour of newly installed window clings featuring the work of local artists. The tour begins at American Pi 37 South St. Clair Street at 5:45 p.m.  The installation of the window clings is the final phase of the Activated Spaces
Street Team art initiative, which placed works of art in vacant storefront windows throughout downtown.

Local students prepare for the Day of the Dead parade

Dayton’s Community Day of the Dead is part of the First Friday, tonight, 6-10 p.m. The parade, led by Michael Bashaw and students, will line up on Wyandot Ave., behind Hauer Music and Arby’s, at 6 p.m. You are encouraged to participate and all that is needed is some sort of skeleton mask or other Day of the Dead attire. The parade will go down Fifth Street shortly after 6 p.m., arriving at Missing Peace Art Space around 6:30 p.m.
