October 5th and 6th mark the 8th annual Dayton Music Fest, a celebration of local music in downtown Dayton. This year's festivities feature several free, all-ages options including a brand new partnership with Five Rivers Metroparks' Midwest Outdoor Experience.
Dayton Music Fest co-organizer Don Thrasher spoke with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt about this year's event and its diverse lineup.
Since the release of their debut EP, Take Control, the members of Good English have stayed busy performing in the Dayton area. After a brief summer hiatus, the band is back in action writing new material for a forthcoming LP and preparing for two upcoming festival performances. Elizabeth, Celia and Leslie Rasmussen return to the WYSO studios joined by new guitar player, Johnathan Seidl to perform live and talk about their upcoming plans.
Each of the four members of Jasper the Colossal says she brings a different style of music to the band from punk to British Pop to alternative metal. The band says they enjoy the energy and crowd interaction that comes with a live performance and are currently searching for a studio that can capture their live sound for a full length album.
Jasper the Colossal will perform live on Thursday, September 26th at Club Vex and as part of Dayton Music Fest on Oct 2nd.
