In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, state officials are cautioning Ohioans who want to help flood victims to watch out for charity scams.

In a statement Tuesday, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine urged Ohioans to do their homework before sending money to any organizations promising to help Harvey flood victims.

The Attorney General advises residents to research organizations requesting donations. He says "it's not safe to assume charities recommended on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter have been vetted."

Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley (GESMV) says more than 300 people attended the ribbon-cutting for a large new facility on South Main Street Tuesday morning.

Marketing Coordinator Kim Bramlage says Goodwill had long outgrown the Kuntz Road building where the organization has been centered the last 30 years.

Horrorama is an annual movie marathon for charity at the Englewood Cinema.  This year's event on October 25th features Hammer's The Mummy and George Romero's Dead Trilogy (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead).  Organizers Matt Brassfield and Rick Martin and hosts A. Ghastlee Ghoul and Jeff McClellan joined Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt in the studio for a preview of the festivities.

Horrorama 2013 is Friday, October 25th at Englewood Cinema.  Doors open at 6:30pm.

This month is known to people around the world as "No-Shave November." It's a time to forgo the razor to raise money for charity and to make a point - facial hair is an option, even in the professional world. Here in Dayton a social club known as The Gem City Gentlemen of the Gilded Beard organized Ohio's first beard and mustache competition to cultivate a local appreciation of well-groomed facial hair.
