Tonight’s the time in downtown Dayton for their First Friday events. Galleries, restaurants and shops will host a variety of free events, including art exhibit openings and live music. The Kings Island amusement and waterpark outside Cincinnati says it plans to hire 4,000 workers to fill seasonal positions. The park says it is accepting applications online for the 2012 season that starts April 28.
Open positions are in various areas, including admissions, entertainment, food and beverage, lifeguards, rides and security.
Applications are open to those 15 and older. The park is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Co.
If the numbers from one store are an indication, Ohio could be losing more than 300 jobs from the shutdown of six Kmart locations.
The state this week received notice from a regional Kmart executive that 52 employees will be affected by the closing of a store in Springfield in western Ohio. The retailer indicated that none of the laid-off workers will be able to transfer to jobs at other stores.
