Today is 2012’s First Friday in Downtown Dayton. Lots of exhibit openings at the galleries, art demonstrations, live music and jazz and ice skating. As you are wandering around you will be hearing REV. COOL'S AROUND THE FRINGE since lots of places have dialed their radio to 91.3 WYSO.
One of Ohio's larger airports is seeking $4.4 million in extra federal funding to help create more room for airlines to park their planes overnight.
Dayton International Airport also wants to tear down a concourse it hasn't used for almost 20 years.
The Dayton Daily News reports the upgrades would be paid for with the additional federal money, plus the airport's $2.7 million in regular annual support from the Federal Aviation Administration. The city of Dayton would chip in $375,000 from the airport's capital reserve fund.
A documentary by two Ohio filmmakers has been selected as one of 25 films that will be added to the 2011 National Film Registry. As WYSO's Emily McCord reports, it joins movies like Bambi and Forrest Gump as a film worthy of preservation by the Library of Congress.
