Drivers on I-75 through Dayton should get used to orange barrels.
The Dayton Daily News reports construction work that began in 2006 will continue until 2017. Planning for the $400 million-plus update of the interstate began in 2000, and the first phase of construction is nearly complete. That involved adding a third I-75 lane in the area of Ohio Route 4, while removing a sharp curve and other work to relieve congestion.
A retirement community in southwest Ohio plans to offer an elder abuse center for older people who need shelter.
Officials of Cedar Village Retirement Community in Mason say they will take referrals from police, emergency rooms and social services agencies beginning in January. The center will initially serve people from four Cincinnati area counties.
Ohio's new congressional map consolidates a major air force base into a single district.
Southwest Ohio officials had said earlier they wanted Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to continue to have at least two representatives in Congress. However, the Dayton Daily News reports that they're confident the base's interests will be protected.
The base will be fully in the 10th District, which also pits Republican incumbents Mike Turner and Steve Austria.
