CINCINNATI (AP) - The photo director for a southwest Ohio newspaper has resigned rather than go along with planned layoffs of photography staffers.
Larry Price says he doesn't think the plan is fair to staffers or in the best interests of the Dayton Daily News and readers of the Cox Media Group newspaper. The two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer resigned Monday, three days after being told two to four people would be cut from nine staffers.
DAYTON, Ohio(AP) - The Dayton Public Schools, one of Ohio's bigger school districts has barred teachers from becoming friendly with students on Facebook and other social networking sites.
The new policy also prohibits teachers from texting or sending instant messages to students. And, the educators may not respond to students' attempts at communicating through any personal or professional accounts not approved by the district.
A Wittenberg University graduate is the seventh person to die from injuries sustained in the Indiana State Fair state collapse earlier this month. Meagan Toothman died Monday afternoon after her family decided to take her off life support and have her organs donated.
Toothman suffered critical injuries and burns when a stage light fell on her. She had been on life support unitl donor recipients were found according to her family, who have been posting updates on the website, Caringbridge.org.
