Every Wednesday night Juliet Fromholt talks to musicians, filmmakers, and artists from the Miami Valley and beyond and more often than not, you're treated to a set of music performed live in the WYSO studios.  You'll also hear some of the best music from emerging artists and old favorites from around the world.

The Left Hooks Bring Gem City Dialect Volume 1 Back Home

Scott Soifer and Jordan Hampton of the Left Hooks

Dayton natives Scott Soifer and Jordan Hampton have been playing music together since they were teenagers.  Now based in Nashville and performing under the name The Left Hooks, the duo has released Gem City Dialect Volume 1.  The debut album embraces jazz, worldbeat, and rock and roll influences with nods to trip-hop and experimental music.  WYSO's Juliet Fromholt spoke with Soifer and Hampton ahead of their visit to Dayton.

The Left Hooks will perform at Blind Bob's on July 11th.

Sam At Eleven Releases Holy Hell

Jeff Rudolph, Adam Bryant and Brad Gilbert returned to the WYSO studios as Sam At Eleven prepares to release its sophomore album, Holy Hell.  The trio performed a live set on Kaleidoscope and talked about the new album, revisiting old songs, and future plans.

Sam at Eleven will celebrate the release of Holy Hell on July 18th at the Oregon Express.

Negative Ghostrider Live on Kaleidoscope

Negative Ghostrider

Nate Berry and Michael Shine had been playing together since high school, and once they connected with Joe Hamp and Tim Clendenin via Craigslist, Negative Ghostrider was born.  Very quickly the band began collaborating on songwriting and performing live around the Miami Valley.  The members of Negative Ghostrider visited the WYSO studios for a live set on Kaleidoscope and spoke with host Juliet Fromholt about the formation of the band and its sound, writing and recording, and future plans.

Swimming With Sharks Prepare for Local Debut

Swimming With Sharks are a band made up of both newcomers and mainstays of the Dayton music scene.  Beginning as a vehicle for Brian Whitten's solo material and developing into a more collaborative effort, the band is preparing to bring it's danceable yet lyrically complex music to the local stage for the first time. 

Swimming With Sharks' debut Dayton performance is Saturday, July 5th at Canal Public House.
