Every Wednesday night Juliet Fromholt talks to musicians, filmmakers, and artists from the Miami Valley and beyond and more often than not, you're treated to a set of music performed live in the WYSO studios.  You'll also hear some of the best music from emerging artists and old favorites from around the world.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Magic Jackson

Magic Jackson

The members of Magic Jackson have been hard at work in the studio on a new album that's set to be the label debut for IBC Records.  The yet-to-be named album features a honing of the group's blend of rock and Dayton funk with lots of collaborations and guest appearances from other local and regional musicians.

Magic Jackson made a return visit to the WYSO studios for a live set on Kaleidoscope and to debut some of the tracks from their upcoming album.  They'll be performing live on June 15 at J-Alan's in Dayton.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Army of Infants

Jared Welch and Jacob Pflanzer began playing music together in high school and have been performing under the name Army of Infants for about two years.  As the band prepares to embark on a tour, they've just released a limited edition 7 inch. 

Army of Infants visited the WYSO studios to perform live and chat with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt about their upcoming tour, the new record and the evolution of their music throughout the recording process.

Ape the Ghost

After Sleepybird went on hiatus and eventually disbanded, the members founded themselves continuing to play music together but with a slightly modified sound.  They eventually named this project Ape the Ghost and began performing live around the Miami Valley.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Soul Rebels

Jonny Dreadlocks of Soul Rebels

Hailing from Yellow Springs, the members of Soul Rebels combine reggae, funk, jazz and rock and roll influences to create that sound with a distinct groove and lyrics with a positive message.  The band visited the WYSO studios to perform a live set on Kaleidoscope and chatted with host Juliet Fromholt about how they came together and found their sound.

Live on Kaleidoscope: The Artists of Sideshow 7

Sideshow is an annual arts and music festival, created by members of the Dayton Circus Art Collective.  The two-day event features over 50 visual artists and 20 musical acts in the Yellow Cab Building on 4th Street in downtown Dayton.  Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt visited the Yellow Cab building ahead of Sideshow 7 as the artists prepared for a preview party.  Here she speaks with several visual artists about what they'll be displaying at Sideshow 7.
