Every Wednesday night Juliet Fromholt talks to musicians, filmmakers, and artists from the Miami Valley and beyond and more often than not, you're treated to a set of music performed live in the WYSO studios.  You'll also hear some of the best music from emerging artists and old favorites from around the world.

Good English Live on Kaleidoscope

The members of Good English

Since the release of their debut EP, Take Control, the members of Good English have stayed busy performing in the Dayton area.  After a brief summer hiatus, the band is back in action writing new material for a forthcoming LP and preparing for two upcoming festival performances.  Elizabeth, Celia and Leslie Rasmussen return to the WYSO studios joined by new guitar player, Johnathan Seidl to perform live and talk about their upcoming plans.

Live on Kaleidoscope: The Half Shebang

Kevin Milner of the Half Shebang

Kevin Milner makes a return visit to the WYSO studios with a project he's calling the Half Shebang.  It's a name for his various collaborations with other musicians, including Linsey Rogers, a violinist and singer who performed with him on the air.  The duo discuss how their musical backgrounds have made working together fairly easy in a short amount of time as well future plans for live shows and recordings.

The Half Shebang will perform on August 25th at Tipp City's HogJam.

Live on Kaleidoscope: The Buffalo Killers

Roughly a year ago, the Buffalo Killers were celebrating the release of the third full length album, 3.  They returned to the WYSO studios one day after the national release of their newest album, Dig Sow Love Grow, for a live performance.  The band discussed the process of recording the album in Cincinnati as well as upcoming tour plans.  

The Buffalo Killers will celebrate the release of Dig Sow Love Grow on Saturday, August 11, at Canal Street Tavern.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Miss Lissa and Company

After coming together as a band in 2007, Miss Lissa and Company have been gaining recognition in the regional and international blues scene.  In 2011, the Dayton band won the Cincinnati Blues Challenge which sent them to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis earlier this year.  Miss Lissa and Company is looking ahead to lots of regional live performances in the late summer and early fall with the hopes of recording a full-length follow-up to their EP, Back to Your Mamma.

Live on Kaleidoscope: The Giant Steps

The Giant Steps

David Busarow (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Jack Badgley (Guitars), John Winch(Bass, Piano) and Sam Pickard (Drums) visited the WYSO studios last fall shortly after winning the Dayton Band Playoffs under the name the Outliers.  Nearly a year later, they've changed their name to The Giant Steps and recently completed an album called Transitions.  The Giant Steps returned to the WYSO studios to perform on Kaleidoscope and chat about what's next for the young band.
