Wheels Continues Musical Growth With New Full-Length Album

Yellow Springs band Wheels has been playing together since its members were in middle school.  Now with members in high school and college, the band continues its musical growth with the release of a new self-titled full length album.  Sam Salazar and Jamie Scott visited the WYSO studios to talk about the new album and its recording with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt

Wheels will celebrate the release of its self-titled album on April 6th at Gilly's in downtown Dayton.

Dayton's Collaboratory Open for Creation

The Collaboratory space being prepped for its opening.

Housed in a former drugstore building across the street from downtown Dayton's Courthouse Square, the Collaboratory is a blank slate for developing collaborative projects.  The Blue Sky Project's Peter Benkendorf envisions the Collaboratory as being a hub of activity where community members can gather to brainstorm and develop new ideas.  Benkendorf sat down with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt in the Collaboratory space to discuss some of his vision for the space and how the community can get involved.

Many Musical Roots for The Pinkerton Raid

The Pinkerton Raid

A Cedarville University graduate, Jesse DeConto grew up experiencing both sacred and secular music and began playing with his family as a young adult.  In an interview with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt, DeConto talks about his musical roots and performing with his siblings in The Pinkerton Raid. 

The Pinkerton Raid will perform at Ghostlight Coffee in Dayton's South Park neighborhood on April 6th.  The band will also be in Cincinnati at Sitwell's Coffee House on April 5th and will open for Denison Witmer on April 13th at Columbus' Rumba Cafe.

Starving in the Belly of the Whale & Friends Live on Kaleidoscope

Ricky Terrell from Starving in the Belly of the Whale

Starving in the Belly of the Whale recently completed recording their 4th full length album, The Foolish Fellow.  The album will be released on Record Store Day, April 20th, and the band will celebrate the release with a show at Blind Bob's on April 27th. 

Ricky Terrell from Starving in the Belly of the Whale made a return visit to Kaleidoscope to talk about The Foolish Fellow and perform live along with Denny Cottle and the Repeating Arms, who will provide support at the album release show.

To No End Live on Kaleidoscope

Nick Dellaposta of To No End

Nick Dellaposta performs regularly with his father's blue band, but in 2012, he decided to also start working on his own project and formed To No End.  The band recently released its debut album, Curio and is gearing up to begin performing locally later this year and for the release of a brand new music video on March 21st.

To No End visited the WYSO studios to perform live and talked about putting together Curio and their upcoming music video.
