Live on Kaleidoscope: Al Holbrook Talks about Nativity: The Pop Opera

Al Holbrook is a master of many musical styles.  Now he's trying his hand at musical theater in his second year performing in Nativity: the Pop Opera.  In this interview Holbrook speaks with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt about his experiences in the production and his plans for the new year. 

There will be two local performances of Nativity on Saturday, December 17th at Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Set the Controls

Formerly known as Eclipse, Set the Controls is a Pink Floyd tribute band with many Dayton roots including local musician Tod Weidner (Shrug, The Motel Beds) on guitar.  Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt spoke Weidner about the band's take on classic Pink Floyd tunes.

Set the Controls will perform on Saturday, December 17 at Canal Street Tavern.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Good English

Elizabeth Rasmussen, Celia Rasmussen, Leslie Rasmussen and Annie Bartlett all began playing music at an early age.  They formed Good English three years ago and have performing at many venues in the Dayton area.  In this interview Good English shares tracks from their new EP, Take Control, set for release in early 2012.  The band discusses their recording process and plans for 2012.

Live on Kaleidoscope: The New Old-Fashioned

The New Old-Fashioned blend Alt-rock, Americana and folk sensibilities into their sound as they prepare to play their debut show this Saturday night, December 3rd, at the XACT/KHN Theater in their hometown of Xenia.  Here two members of the four piece band, David Payne and Kent Montgomery perform an acoustic set on Kaleidoscope and chat with host Juliet Fromholt about the development of the band and their plans for 2012.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Goodnight Keith Moon Co-author Bruce Worden

Bruce Worden says the idea for Goodnight Keith Moon came during his son's storytime. 

"I had probably been listening to some Who albums during the day, and then at night I was reading Goodnight Moon to my son at bedtime," says Worden. "It just sort of struck me that saying 'goodnight moon' was kind of a little eulogy for Keith Moon."

Here Worden describes the development of the parody picture book, Goodnight Keith Moon with his co-author Clare Cross.
