- Governor Kasich’s private job creation entity, JobsOhio, has been at the center of controversy since it began. It’s also faced legal challenges. Because it's partially a private board, it's free from some of the regulations and public scrutiny that government organizations face. Emily McCord speaks with Karen Kasler about all this. Kasler is with the Ohio Statehouse News Bureau.
- It’s been five years since the housing bubble burst. Lots of people in the Dayton area lost their homes to foreclosure, and many of those homes are still sitting vacant. WYSO's Lewis Wallace talks to Jim McCarthy about the Miami Valley Fair Housing Committee's case against big banks.
- Nearly 200 people turned out this week to hear five local university and college presidents discuss landscape of higher education at a "Meet the Presidents" breakfast in Clark County that was sponsored by the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. WYSO's Wayne Bakerreports.
Four months after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, 80 men took off from an aircraft carrier on a top-secret mission to bomb Japan. They were led by Lt. Col. James H. "Jimmy" Doolittle, and soon after, they became known as the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders.
This weekend marked the last time survivors of the raid gathered to honor their fallen comrades. The remaining Raiders are between the ages of 98 and 92 years old, and now, 71 years after their historic mission, three of the four made a final stop at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Lt. Cols. Richard Cole, and Edward Saylor, along with Staff Sgt. David Thatcher, were at ceremony. Because of health concerns, Lt. Col. Robert Hite could not make the journey from his home in Tennessee. WYSO's Jerry Kenney spoke with one Raider, 98 year old Lt. Col. Richard Cole as he prepared to make the trip to Dayton from his home in Texas.- Recently Conrad's Corner host Conrad Balliet visited a speech therapist and got to see his voice box on video as he recited a poem by W.B.
