Small businesses around Ohio are struggling to sort out the details of the Affordable Care Act. As WYSO’s Lewis Wallace reports, it’s unclear whether recent delays in the law help or hurt the confusion.
- Springfield's Board of Zoning Appeals voted unanimously this week against approving a conditional use permit to the developers of a proposed state-of-the-art $2.5 million recycling center and solid waste transfer station that was to be located on Springfield's south side. The project has been opposed by many residents in the area. Several residents from the predominately African-American Southgate neighborhood voiced concerns over how increased traffic, noise and odor would lower the value of their properties. WYSO's Wayne Baker was at the Board of Zoning Appeals and talked to people on both sides of the issue.

When actor and author Daniel Beaty was growing up in Dayton, he wasn’t fully aware that his father was addicted to heroin, and in and out of jail because of it. That realization came later in Daniel’s childhood, but it didn’t stop him from becoming an award-winning author, actor, and educator. Beaty returned to Dayton, on Friday night, for a public event to discuss his upcoming motivational memoir, Transforming Pain to Power: Unlock Your Unlimited Potential. We spoke to him by phone and he shared his story about growing up, and his message of personal empowerment.
