Thanks for joining us on WYSO Weekend – On today’s program, we offer more holiday wishes from WYSO friends and family members. In this week’s Culture Couch you’ll meet a man in perpetual motion—not sure what that means? Stay tuned to find out. We’ve got Bill Felker with Poor Will’s Almanack and WYSO’s Lewis Wallace will introduce us to a new series of stories coming your way in 2016. See full details below.
- There’s a small group of statuesque men and women we always see at this country’s most prestigious military ceremonies. In the Navy, they’re called the Presidential Ceremonial Guard. This elite team is carefully chosen for their appearance and fortitude. Today our Veterans Voices series continues with Marine Corp veteran and Wright State student, Jeremy Dobbins of Springfield, who spoke with one of these men Navy veteran and fellow Wright State student, Corey Yoder.
- Every year at this time WYSO is pleased to bring you season's greeting from local men and women, and their families, serving our nation in the armed forces.
- Culture Couch—our arts and creativity series—met a guy who’s in perpetual motion. He's an Ivy League-educated researcher and professor at the University of Dayton who is also a gifted jazz pianist. And he’s trying to be at the top of his game in both worlds. Community Voices producer and WYSO jazz host Dave Barber introduces us to KeigoHirakawa.
- If there are children listening, you may want to turn down the volume. We're going to play a story about Santa Claus. And while many of us at WYSO do believe, this story is about questioning--about losing and regaining faith. So we’ll give you a second in case anyone is listening who shouldn’t be. Community Voices producer Jason Reynolds brings the holiday spirit…
- Lewis Wallace gives us a sneak preview of a new series we’re launching in 2016—a series based at the Dayton Correctional Institution, a women’s prison on the west side.
- Bill Felker has this week's Poor Will's Almanack, and before we leave you today, we’ve gathered more WYSO friends and family members to say thanks for tuning in this year.
