WYSO Weekend

Welcome to WYSO Weekend! WYSO’s weekly radio magazine.  In today’s program – a new round of Miami Valley StoryCorps begins with a conversation between a mother and her son.  We’ll have climate commentary from Bob Breca and this week singer songwriter Jesse Littleton paid a visit to the WYSO studios.  You’ll hear part of his conversation with WYSO Music Director and Excursions host, Niki Dakota – and you’ll hear some tunes from Littleton’s band Gran Bel Fisher. See the full program details below.

  • 3D Printing isn’t the future. It’s now. Just in the last year and a half, four new 3D printing services have opened in the Dayton area. WYSO Community Voices producer Jason Reynolds reports on the most recent additions to the 3D printing scene. Jason Reynolds is a graduate of W-Y-S-O’s Community Voices training program.
  • WYSO began a new series this week - Miami Valley StoryCorps. These are interviews recorded earlier this year when StoryCorps visited Dayton. Over the next few months, you’ll be hearing interviews between local people who visited the StoryCorps recording booth in West Dayton last spring. This week, Lori Gravle's interview with her son, Marshall. She wanted to hear about about his experience living with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This interview was edited by Community Voices producer Will Davis.

  • Ohio Drivers are happy at the pump these days. Right now gasoline costs below three dollars. Heating with natural gas has gotten cheaper over the past few years. Both of these trends also have to do with 'fracking,' and that’s what University of Dayton Professor Bob Brecha wants to talk about today. Brecha is a professor of renewable and clean energy program at the University of Dayton.
  • As teen Buckeye born singer songwriter Jesse Littleton had a meteoric rise in the music business.  It all ended after he developed health problems, but now he’s back. Music Director Niki Dakota spoke with Littleton, and his band Gran Bel Fisher—they performed at Peaches last night.  Niki says Littleton sounds better than ever. Here’s part of what Excursions listeners heard from their in studio interview this week
