WYSO Presents 'Tale Spinning Terrors!'

Rhawnie Gonzales

Frighten up your holidays with 'edge of your seat' storytelling and holiday music in this tale spinning hour of terror from WYSO Public Radio and The Yellow Springs Tale Spinners.

The hour begins with Creepy Man, a children's story told around a campfire. Then we'll visit an even creepier teen-attraction in Yellow Springs, Ohio called The Blue Hole. Our travels then take us to old Japan to hear Promise Broken, Curse Unspoken. Finally, our last destination is a terror-filled road trip in the family car.  The journey ends there... on Eyeball Bridge (this story contains graphic descriptions that may not be suitable for younger listeners. Discretion advised.)

WYSO Public Radio and The Yellow Springs Tale Spinners have conspired to spin one dreadful and disturbing tale after another! With each story, the fright level increases! The hour is highlighted with the music of Mannheim Steamroller and The Yoshida Brothers; making this a unique Halloween program.
The Yellow Springs Tale Spinners are: Shane Dickey, Lisa Holmes, Eric Wolf, Harold Wright and Jonatha Wright.

Jerry began volunteering at WYSO in 1991 and hosting Sunday night's Alpha Rhythms in 1992. He joined the YSO staff in 2007 as Morning Edition Host, then All Things Considered. In 2009 Jerry received the Best Feature award from Public Radio News Directors Inc., and was named the 2023 winner of the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors Best Anchor/News Host award. His current, heart-felt projects include the occasional series Bulletin Board Diaries, which focuses on local, old-school advertisers and small business owners. He has also returned as the co-host Alpha Rhythms.
