What's Great in Dayton: September 25 - October 1, 2015

Learning Tree Farm's Autumn Fest is Saturday

The 13TH Annual Chocolate Festival is on Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Coliseum. It is Indoors, Free Admissions, Family Friendly!  Chocolate Everything!

The Autumn Fest is fun for kids of ALL ages! It is on Saturday, 10:00am - 4:00pm in the Learning Tree Farm. Free Admission. They offer a great variety of activities, crafts, displays, and learning opportunities. Keep an eye out for Johnny Appleseed as he wanders the farm…he may have an apple to share with you!

The Fort Ancient Bluegrass Festival is on Saturday, 11:30a.m. - 7:30 p.m. High atop a bluff overlooking the Little Miami River, the Fort Ancient Bluegrass Festival will fill the 2,000-year-old earthworks with the sounds of American roots music. This day-to-dusk music festival will offer great entertainment, craft beer, food and artisan vendors.

And on Saturday and Sunday you can spend the day at Aullwood Farm. It is their Apple Fest and it means delicious food! Sample apple pie baked in a Dutch oven, freshly pressed cider, kettle corn, and more. See how they make apple butter in copper kettles and purchase a pint to take home. Lamb chili and grilled cheese taste great on a fall afternoon.

What do authors Katrina Kittle and Trudy Krisher, Dayton Daily News editor Ron Rollins, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra music director Neal Gittleman, Michael Lippert of Muse Machine and Crystal Perkins of Dayton Contemporary Dance Company have in common? They all have an interest in censorship issues and a willingness to match wits in a fierce game of Banned Books Celebrity Jeopardy! You can play along on Monday, September 28, 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Boonshoft Museum. Admission is free.
