The Midwest Outdoor Experience is this weekend

The Midwest Outdoor Experience is two days of FUN. All kind of outdoor activities, competitions, music, craft beer and more! There is something for the budding weekend warrior to the hardcore outdoor enthusiast. This is one of the largest festivals celebrating the outdoor lifestyle in the Midwest. It is today and tomorrow at Eastwood Metropark.

On Saturday in Troy there is an all-day music festival. The Festival will open at 11:30am with a dulcimer presentation.  There will be two stages and six bands who will explore the roots of our American musical traditions. They finish with The Elements starting at 5:30pm.

Mike McGrath is an author, columnist, radio personality, and expert gardener. On Saturday at 11am he will explain why compost improves soil structure; why it provides the perfect amount of food for every plant; how it fights plant diseases more safely and effectively than any chemical fungicide; and how to make your own. This is at Greene County Fairgrounds.

If you have a pet you want to bless then on Saturday, at 4pm go to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oakwood. It will be held outdoors (weather permitting) and is open to everyone! Fr. Greg will bless all of the furry companions on the green space. Dogs must be on leashes and cats in carriers. Other critters are included in containers.

On Sunday, there are 2-hour historical tours in Woodland Cemetery. Come, look and listen as volunteers are dressed in character and tell you a little about themselves. From John Van Cleve who established the cemetery to The Wright Brothers who discovered flight and of course Erma Bombeck one of the most admired humorist writers of our day. The tours depart at noon, 12:30, and 1 p.m.

Gotta Go….
