What's Great in Dayton: October 16 - 22, 2015

The annual Big Lens Film Festival are new films directed by students of Wright State's award-winning Motion Pictures program. This festival takes place in the lovely Renaissance Auditorium at the Dayton Art Institute tonight at 7:00pm. A reception and party will follow.

SuburbiCon is back! This second annual event features even more comic book creators showing and selling their work.  There is a great lineup of artists and writers, and free art activities for all ages. This includes the Mega-Big Comic Page, the Super Hero photo booth, cape and mask making and the Super Hero scramble. Saturday, 9 am - 3 pm. FREE and open to the public.

Oldies 97.3FM is throwing a Zombie Disco Dance tomorrow, Saturday, from 8-midnight. This at the Huber Heights Athletic Foundation. Contests for best disco outfit and best zombie make-up. The Old Time Craft Day is Sunday,  2:00 - 5:00 pm. in Miamisburg. Free admission and refreshments. Step back in time and watch crafters demonstrate specialty skills common in the 1800s.

A documentary film that is funny and heartfelt is an exploration of our plastic world. What does it mean for earth and for our bodies since plastic has become the answer to every question? And what can each one of us do about its effects? Presented by the Dayton International Peace Museum in cooperation with the Miami Group of the Sierra Club. Sunday, 3:00 PM.
