What's Great in Dayton: May 29 - June 4, 2015

Dayton Theatre Guild's production of Heartbreak House is now through June 14th.

George Bernard Shaw's famous comedy Heartbreak House is about Romance vs. Commerce in WWI. It is led by Captain Shotover who can only produce destructive inventions - and lives in a house where no conventions or traditions are observed. This play is peopled by characters that twist each of these points-of-view into comic consideration. A play particularly suited to our time. This is at the Dayton Theatre Guild now through June 14.

WDPR 88.1 congratulates the six winners of this year's Young Talent Search. Each musician was featured in an ArtsFocus interview and will perform at their no cost Young Talent Search Concert on Sunday, at 2:00pm in the University of Dayton's Sears Recital Hall.

The Halo Concert of the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is on Sunday at 4 p.m. The Dayton Philharmonic Principal String Quartet will travel to Trinity United Presbyterian Church, on Lake Avenue in Dayton to celebrate the human spirit through the universal medium of music. This is their first Halo Concert. The concert is open to the public with no ticket required.

Are you a guitar player and are you proficient in the rock 'n' roll genre? This is your opportunity to perform on stage at the Schuster Center in July. This is with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and they need you! Deadline is June 9.

The Great Dayton Adventure Race is a fast-paced scavenger hunt in and around downtown Dayton, starting and ending at RiverScape MetroPark. You'll experience the city in a whole new way as you weave through downtown during this adventure. It is next Friday but check it out now and establish your team.
