What's Great in Dayton: June 6 - 12, 2014

You can explore, create, and stay out late. The beginning of every month starts with a bang in downtown Dayton. First Friday is a free art hop event held from 5 to 10 p.m. in several locations throughout downtown.

And on First Friday the Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors will open an exhibit of the work of five emerging local artists. Opening reception is 5 to 8 Friday. The show runs through June 30.

The Dayton Gay Men's Chorus is having their Ohio premiere of the co-commissioned show, "I am Harvey Milk." Part choral work, part theatre piece it weaves the story of Harvey Milk's life. This show is Saturday, 8:00pm, Victoria Theater.

A free guitar festival is Sunday from noon – 5:00pm. This is a one-day festival of workshops, displays, food trucks, vendors, and a community jam session so bring your guitar if you have one! This is at the Schuster Center.

Temple Israel will celebrate its fourth Jewish Cultural Festival on Sunday. They invite the community, both Jewish and non-Jewish, to share their traditions and learn about them and their faith.

The Dead Guy is the Ultimate TV Reality Show. This is a play that is on the stage now at the Dayton Theatre Guild.

Charlie Campbell wants to spread the news of so many wonderful aspects in the greater Dayton area. He is a cheerleader and a real believer that our area is the place to be. He has been active in this area for almost 40 years and you can hear him weekly at WYSO.
