What's Great in Dayton: June 13 - 19, 2014

The World Championship of Intercollegiate Solar Boating is going on now through Sunday. This is their 21st annual event, and it is at Eastwood Park.

The St. Anne's Hill Historic Society is presenting their Home & Garden Tour. It will include a variety of unique gardens, galleries, and parks along the charming Victorian-era streets in Dayton's St. Anne's Hill Historic District. It is this evening and Saturday.

The Western Ohio Writers Association are presenting a live reading of original short stories and poetry tonight at 7 pm at Books & Co. at the Greene. They will be performing great new work on the theme, "Friday the 13th!" and it will run the gamut of funny to heart-stopping!

Saturday from 9 – 1:00 in Oakwood is the Oakwood Farmers Market. This is in their Municipal Parking Lot at Far Hills and Orchard (behind Chico's) And....this Saturday, 10-noon, you will be hearing accordion music!!!

A day of soul and swing returns to downtown Dayton for the 32nd annual Women in Jazz Festival. This is downtown in the Dave Hall Plaza. A variety of food and merchandise vendors will be present. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. Sunday, 1:00-8:00pm. Free admission.

And finally, the Miami Valley Pit Crew is a 501 (c)3 non profit animal rescue. Their mission is to cultivate an understanding of the American Pit Bull Terrier through positive education and example... and change the misinformed minds of society one dog at a time!
