What's Great in Dayton: August 7 - 13, 2015

The Human Race Theatre’s commitment to the creation of new plays and musicals takes center stage with its first-ever Festival of New Works. They have selected 5 works in development to present as staged and table readings for this exciting summer event. These will be tonight and Saturday and audience discussions with the writers follow all readings.
 

Shakespeare in South Park is presenting The Tempest  tonight, Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m. on South Park Green, which is on Hickory Street in Dayton. You won't want  to miss this year's production...it is an exciting performance of this classic play. Go to Facebook and find shakespeareinsouthpark

A festive community celebration is being hosted by the Dayton Metro Library on Saturday. The Party in the Park takes place from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Cooper Park and in the Main Library. It features free entertainment, crafts, games, contests and prizes and takes place both indoors and in the park, rain or shine.

The world loved Liberace. Come celebrate the Liberace style, history, and his outrageous and wonderful sense of humor. If you have ever wanted to know more about Liberace or if you still miss that Liberace flair, make sure you catch this concert at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center, on Saturday, at 7:30 pm. It is Free.

The Art on the Commons is Sunday from 11am – 5:00 at Kettering's Lincoln Park Civic Commons. Each year it features fine arts and crafts by talented artists from around the country. Works for display and sale include jewelry, ceramics, paintings, photography, metals, watercolor, and many, many other creations. Entertainment by The Puzzle of Light is scheduled throughout the day and concessions are available.
