What's Great in Dayton: August 21 - 27, 2014

Oakwood Historical Society's Classics on the Lawn is this Sunday.

Join Glen Helen Director and Ornithologist, Nick Boutis to search for birds throughout the Glen. Birders of all skill levels are encouraged to join the walk. Make new friends, learn new skills, and explore the beauty of Glen Helen. Saturday 8 - 10am. Meet at the Trailside Museum.

Five Rivers MetroParks and United Way's Volunteer Connections are hosting a Veggie Palooza on Saturday, from 1-4 PM. Learn what to do with all those summertime veggies, not to mention 500 pounds of kale! Watch demonstrations and try your hand at cooking, preserving, and saving seeds. This is at Grace United Methodist Church.

The Dayton Dragons are hosting Donatos Pizza Family Movie Night on Saturday with a showing of "The Lego Movie." The gates open at 6 and the movie will begin at 8p.m. Bring a blanket and enjoy the festivities before the movie begins. Kids will get to see Dragons mascots Heater and Gem, enjoy plenty of inflatable games, and eat some ballpark food. On your Facebook find Dayton Dragons.

On Sunday The Oakwood Historical Society will host its Classics on the Lawn Car Show and Open House from Noon to 4:00 PM on the grounds of The Long-Romspert Homestead House Museum. Admission is free, The lawn will have many of the Dayton area's finest and most colorful classic, original, restored and special interest automobiles that have come from museums, car clubs, collectors and private owners.

And also on Sunday in Oakwood is a free concert. This is Viva La Strings and it is a blanket concert at 7:00pm at Smith Gardens.

Charlie, It’s Great In Dayton, Campbell

Charlie Campbell wants to spread the news of so many wonderful aspects in the greater Dayton area. He is a cheerleader and a real believer that our area is the place to be. He has been active in this area for almost 40 years and you can hear him weekly at WYSO.
