Republicans held strong in Tuesday’s election. Governor John Kasich defeated Cleveland Democrat Ed FitzGerald
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine will keep his office for a second term after winning against Cincinnati lawyer David Pepper, who ran an extremely aggressive campaign against DeWine.
And Republican Jon Husted remains as Ohio’s secretary of state - Democratic state Sen. Nina Turner losing after a spirited campaign.
In other contests, Republican Sharon Kennedy was re-elected to the Ohio Supreme Court. Josh Mandel held on to his seat as Ohio Treasurer. He soundly defeated Democratic state Representative Connie Pillich. And David Yost will serve his second term as state auditor. The republican beat Democrat John Patrick Carney.
Republican incumbents also held on to a number of seats in the state legislature.
