Poll: Ohio Gov Approval Best Since Taking Office

A recent poll finds Gov. John Kasich's job approval has hit its highest rating since he took office in 2011.

The poll released Tuesday by Quinnipiac University in Connecticut shows 54 percent of Ohioans favor the Republican governor's actions while 32 percent disapprove of his performance.

The poll taken over last weekend also finds that 49 percent of Ohioans say Kasich deserves to be re-elected.

The poll says Kasich currently leads Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald, a leading Democratic opponent in the 2014 gubernatorial race, by a 47-33 margin.

The survey of 941 Ohio voters has a margin of error of 3.2 percentage points.

Kasich's approval rating a year ago was under 40 percent.
