Ohio's Governor To Attend Netanyahu's Speech To Congress

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is headed to Washington to attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to a joint meeting of Congress.

The speech Tuesday comes after House Speaker John Boehner invited Netanyahu without notifying the Obama administration. The Israeli leader's visit has exposed deep tensions with the White House.

Kasich spokesman Rob Nichols confirmed on Monday that the governor had expressed an interest in hearing the prime minister's speech and Boehner, a fellow Ohio Republican, invited Kasich to come. Kasich also is expected to attend events that Boehner is holding for Netanyahu before and after his address.
Kasich is considering a 2016 presidential bid.

Democratic U.S. Reps. Marcia Fudge and Marcy Kaptur of Ohio do not plan to attend Netanyahu's address.
