COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An American arrested and detained in North Korea is headed back to the job he lost while abroad.
The city of Moraine in suburban Dayton agreed to give Jeffrey Fowle his street department job back beginning Monday, but said risky travel in the future would result in his firing.
The agreement with Moraine, signed by Fowle earlier this week, notes that he disregarded cautions by the U.S. Secretary of State, his family and acquaintances in traveling to North Korea. Fowle, a 56-year-old married father of three, returned home last week after negotiations involving retired diplomat and former Ohio Congressman Tony Hall.
Fowle was detained for leaving a Bible in a nightclub in alleged violation of North Korean law.
