Ohio Education Official's Web Post Draws Criticism

The president of Ohio's education board says she shared a Facebook posting with a photo of Adolf Hitler to encourage historical reflection amid the gun-control debate, not to compare President Barack Obama to the Nazi leader.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the photo was shared on the mostly private Facebook page of state Board of Education President Debe Terhar, along with a message criticizing Obama's new gun-control efforts. The newspaper says a quote about disarming citizens was attributed to Hitler in the message.

A statement from Terhar says she regrets carelessly sharing the picture and plans to be more careful using social media in the future.

The posting spurred Democrats to call for the Cincinnati Republican to apologize or to resign or be removed from the board.
