Ohio Democrats Sue Governor Kasich

The Ohio Democratic Party has sued Governor John Kasich for what Democrats call his refusal to release his public schedules.

Ohio Democratic Party spokesman Jared Kertz says the suit filed in Franklin County Court is part of an effort to see if Governor Kasich has used taxpayer money to campaign for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

"It's been more than 42 days since we filed our request on July 2, 2012," says Kertz.  "And so recently we filed, in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas asking the court to tell Governor Kasich to follow the law and release those public schedules to us."

Kertz says former Democratic Governor Ted Strickland complied with the same requests from Ohio Republicans when he was in office. Governor Kasich’s office has not responded to requests for comment.
