Montgomery County is recommending nine area projects for funding, totaling nearly $1.5 million. The Ohio Economic Development Government Equity Advisory Committee, or EDGE, is spearheading the request.
One proposed project is a $100,000 investment to create corporate headquarters for the medical manufacturing group, Midmark. The money would be used to renovate an existing facility at Tech Town. According to a press release from the county, the project would bring 57 jobs to the area.
The recommendation also includes $300,000 for the city of Vandalia to help purchase land for an un-named company and construct a food processing plant. That move is expected to bring 120 jobs to Vandalia over the next five years. And Miamisburg would receive 300 thousand dollars for roadway and utility expansion.
Other projects include:
-City of Kettering – Mound Laser & Photonics Center - $175,000
The company will build a 20,800 s.f. facility in the Miami Valley
Research Park to accommodate the expansion of its laser-based
microfabrication business.
-City of Miamisburg – BOI Solutions Retention & Expansion - $200,000
BOI’s current building has become too small and inefficient as a
result of its recent growth. BOI will purchase an office building at the
Mound Advanced Technology Center and renovate it to meet their needs.
-Village of Farmersville – Broadway Street Improvements - $50,000
The project will repair infrastructure around an existing vacant
building to allow the building to be utilized by Elite Iron Services.
The EDGE program was established by the county in 1992 to attract and retain jobs.
The funding recommendations will be considered by the Board of County Commissioners at its June 5 meeting.
