Lawsuit Over Proposed Gay Marriage Amendment

The group that backed the state’s ban on same sex marriage back in 2004 has filed a lawsuit….asking the state’s highest court to invalidate petitions to overturn that law.

Opponents of the state’s ban on gay marriage have begun to circulate those petitions in hopes of being able to put it on the ballot in November of next year.  Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine had approved the wording of the proposed ballot amendment.  But the group that’s filed this lawsuit against DeWine says the summary he approved is not a fair and truthful statement of the proposed constitutional amendment.

DeWine now has 21 days to respond to the lawsuit.
