A lawsuit has been filed in the July death of a handcuffed burglary suspect who authorities say jumped from an Ohio bridge after escaping police by breaking a cruiser window with his head.
The Dayton Daily News reports the family of 20-year-old Kylen English filed the suit Monday against the city of Dayton, the police officer driving the cruiser and a local hospital.
The lawsuit claims negligence on the part of the officer and hospital officials who treated English for a head injury shortly before his death.
A city spokesman said Wednesday that the city doesn't comment on pending legal matters. The hospital could not immediately comment, and the officer did not return calls.
The Montgomery County Coroner's Office has ruled the death a suicide.
The FBI is investigating.
