Ohio transportation officials say northbound I-75 will be shut down overnight in Cincinnati as bridge work resumes in the aftermath of a deadly accident Monday night.

Interstate 75 southbound re-opened Tuesday night, nearly 24 hours after a worker was killed during work to demolish an overpass exit ramp. The overpass collapsed, covering southbound I-75 with tons of concrete and steel.

The Ohio Department of Transportation had postponed bridge work Tuesday night, but says all northbound I-75 lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. EST Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday in a section north of downtown.

Federal workplace investigators have been at the site and other authorities are also investigating the accident.

Transportation officials say the contractor cleared debris more quickly than expected. The contractor faces possible fines for the interstate shutdown.
