Dear Mr. President: Blessed Is The Nation Whose God Is The Lord

Dear Mr. President,

As a retired 73-year-old female supporting myself on a very modest income, possibly my opinion doesn’t count for much. But like most, I have definite feelings about the current political situation in our beloved country.

I am conservative and Christian (not popular, I understand) and am aware that the news and entertainment industries are most definitely NOT sympathetic with my views. However, nothing could have prepared me for the negative response to this election outcome.

The liberal left portrays itself as compassionate, tolerant, inclusive, diverse, etc., while at the same time branding conservatives as narrow-minded, haters, intolerant and the like. However, their actions have demonstrated what true hatred and intolerance are.

Yes, I was heartbroken when Barack Obama was elected to two terms, but NEVER would I have taken to the streets shouting vulgar obscenities, threatening bloodshed, revolution, burning, looting and destroying property. Hypocritical to say the least!

Mr. Obama made some abysmal choices in my opinion, but the liberal media took little notice and seemed to fawn over him and the First Lady at every turn.

I now avoid the news and have no use for “entertainers” who inexplicably feel it’s their responsibility to educate and influence us “Deplorables” to think ONLY as they do.

God bless the few brave souls like Matthew McConaughey and Nicole Kidman for their common-sense positions.

Although Donald Trump was not my first choice for president, I did vote for him after Dr. Ben Carson’s endorsement. Unfortunately, I was afraid to even put a Trump bumper sticker on my car because intolerance for him was evident then.

I pray this upheaval ends and that citizens who are upset will realize what a destructive movement they are involved in. I also pray that they’ll at least give President Trump a chance, just as we did President Obama.

Then, after four years, they’ll have the freedom to vote once again – a gift many of us take for granted.

Thank you for the opportunity to express my thoughts,

Beverly Thompson
