Dayton Names New Acting Assistant City Manager

Joe Parlette has been named Dayton’s Acting Assistant City Manager. Interim City Manager Shelley Dickstein made the announcement Monday.

According to a news release, Parlette is now responsible for oversight of city operations in the departments of water, fire, public works and recreation and youth services. He’s worked for the since 2002 in various departments.

The position shuffling in Dayton comes after the sudden resignation of city manager Warren Price last month. Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley pointed to “personal reasons” for Price’s departure.

Price took the job in January and is the shortest-serving city manager in recent history. Shelley Dickstein took over soon after Price stepped down. She was serving as Dayton’s assistant city manager at the time.

RYS Recreation Division Manager Robin Williams will fill Parlette’s spot and will serve as acting director of the Department of Recreation and Youth Services.
