Last week the Dayton City Commission approved a new three-year contract with the International Association of Firefighters, Local 136 (IAFF). The agreement includes a combination of wage freezes, modest raises, changes in sick leave, and increases in health care contributions by employees.
Under the three-year contract, IAFF members will get a 1.6 percent wage increase for 2012, a wage freeze in 2013 and a 2 percent wage increase in 2014. Fire personnel will continue to receive their normal step increases during the contract period, but they will pay more in leave time for missed work days, and pay slightly larger healthcare premiums.
