The state's school construction agency has approved $164 million in construction and renovation projects for three Ohio districts.

The funding includes $106 million in state dollars and $58 million in local funding under the state school construction formula.

The Ohio School Facilities Commission approval of the projects Thursday marks the second set of school projects to receive funding in the current business year.

The commission was created in 1997 as part of Ohio's response to court rulings that found the state's school funding system unconstitutional.

The agency has opened nearly 1,100 new or renovated buildings since then.

The new projects are for Northridge Local Schools in Montgomery County; Middletown City Schools in Butler County; and Northwood Local Schools in Wood County.
