A Clear Day In September

Former WYSO News Director, Aileen LeBlanc, left the house on what seemed like an ordinary Tuesday to find that she would be working on day that she would never forget.

Ten years ago, Dayton resident Jerry Winhoven was at a training session  at the World Trade Center in New York. Now, he lives in Celina and says he remembers running out of the towers moments before they fell.

Dave Tritch is a retired firefighter and was with Ohio Task Force One when he got a call from FEMA headquarters. Within 24 hours after the attacks, Tritch and his team were searching through debris at Ground Zero.

The events of 9/11 were a national tragedy, but it was a local story, too. In this hour-long special, “A Clear Day In September” commemorates the 10 year anniversary of that day through the voices of the Miami Valley, both past and present.
