Book Nook: You Had Me at Woof and Love at First Bark, by Julie Klam

Most dogs are joyful creatures. Do you believe that dogs enhance our lives?  Julie Klam thinks so. The deep bond she forged with a Boston terrier named Otto was a transformative experience for the author. She wrote about  Otto and several subsequent canine companions in an utterly fabulous memoir "You Had Me At Woof - How Dogs Taught Me the Secrets of Happiness" (Riverhead). It was recently issued in paperback.

The author has become very active in the dog rescue movement. In her new book   "Love at First Bark - How Saving a Dog Can Sometimes Help You Save Yourself" (Riverhead) she relates three poignant stories about dogs that really needed some love. If you have ever experienced the joy of having a special dog pulling you through life then these wry and witty tales are certain to tug at your heartstrings.
