Craig Johnson's series of crime novels featuring the Wyoming Sheriff Walt Longmire just keeps rolling along. His character has also become the inspiration for the popular TV series "Longmire." In this interview the author explains how he came up with the idea for the first book and what has transpired since then.
In this latest installment Longmire is trying to find out what has happened to some women who have vanished. He's also feeling a lot of pressure to resolve these cases quickly because his daughter out on the east coast is about to have a baby and she wants her dad to be there for the birth.
Johnson seems to be enjoying his success but sudden bursts of forced humility are always lurking just around the bend. In this interview he describes a chance meeting with a woman who is a huge fan of the "Longmire" TV series. When Johnson explained to her that he was the author of the Longmire books she was puzzled. She said; "Oh, there are books?"
