The Beavercreek City School Board will hold its first regular meeting Thursday since a dramatic levy recount in November. The levy passed, but the vote was so close it wasn’t made official until December. In the final count, the $10 million five-year levy squeaked through with a 33-vote advantage.

Time for a spending blitz? Not so fast.

“We’re going to move very cautiously and judiciously as we look at reinstating programs and services,” said Beavercreek school superintendent Bill McGlothlin.

Beavercreek is considering bringing back elementary art classes, bussing for high schoolers, and reading support for third-graders.

The district also just got the news it’s one of 24 Straight A Fund winners in Ohio, which means Beavercreek can look forward to $3.8 million in new state funds. That money will go towards a program to give iPads to all students and develop personalized curricula. Two other area schools, Springfield Clark CTC and the Dayton Early Academy, also received funds from Gov. Kasich’s $250 million initiative.
