Activate Now – The Mound

This is the fourth stop of the Marching On project for the Hernd0n Gallery's current exhibition Unpacking the Archives: Frameworks for Change--Activate Now! The final picture in the above slideshow is a map showing all of the stops on this tour of activism.

Beyond Horace Mann’s exhortation to “Be ashamed to die,” graduating students and their assembled families and friends have heard inspiring speeches from many activists over the years, including Julian Bond and Winona LaDuke at The Mound. But perhaps the most stirring speech of all was made in 1965 by the husband of an alumna, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Below is an audio clip from that speech.
