Wayne Baker is a graduate of Yellow Springs High School and Central State University. He has worked in print media for several years covering news and sports.  Baker has coached youth basketball in the Yellow Springs school system and served on the Human Relations Commission.

Springfield Radio Station Relocating to Xenia

Springfield's WEEC Christian radio station has announced that it will be moving its studios to Xenia. The station will be partnering with the international Christian group, Athletes in Action, whose world headquarters is located in Greene County.

For the past 50 years, FM 100.7, WEEC, has been broadcasting Christian music and bible lessons from its studios in Springfield, Ohio. Five years ago, the station merged with Miamisburg-based WFCJ, also a Christian station.

Montford Point Marines receive Congressional Gold Medal; Jonas Bender shares his story

Yellow Springs, Ohio resident Jonas Bender was proud to serve as a member of the Montford Point Marines. Bender and 20,000 members of the group who broke the Corps’ color barrier were honored with the Congressional Gold Medal recently in Washington, D.C.

President Barack Obama signed the bill awarding the medal to the Montford Point Marines last year.

Bender, 87, is one of 400 Marines still living of the 20,000 who trained at the segregated boot camp of Montford Point in North Carolina between 1942 and 1949.

Clark County WIC Program to Lose Funding

The Clark County Women, Infants and Childrens' program or WIC, will be cut by more than $240,000 and officials expect to close at least one office or lay off staff.

The nutrition program plans to close its New Carlisle office and is considering moving the operation into donated rental space.

WIC helps poor families pay for formula, canned or frozen fruits and vegetables, milk and bread. Executive Director Rita Jones said it's hard to predict if more services or staff will be cut in the near future.

Central State Fires Kellen Winslow as Athletic Director

After nearly four years as athletic director at Central State University, NFL Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow, Sr. is now out of a job.

Central State University President Dr. John W. Garland announced on Tuesday the appointment of Jahan Culbreath as interim athletic director to take over for Winslow.

Culbreath has more than 20 years of experience in athletic coaching and administration, and is a 1992 graduate of Central State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication.

Clark County Athlete Getting National Attention for Sportsmanship

A Clark County athlete is gaining national attention after she did something rarely seen in sports over the weekend at the state track meet in Columbus.

West Liberty-Salem's Meghan Vogel, a junior, was headed toward the finish line during Saturday’s Ohio Division III girls state meet.

Vogel was running in the 3,200 meter race and was in last place with less than 15 meters to go. Arden McMath, a sophomore from Arlington High School, was slightly ahead of her, but suddenly collapsed on the track.
