Wayne Baker is a graduate of Yellow Springs High School and Central State University. He has worked in print media for several years covering news and sports.  Baker has coached youth basketball in the Yellow Springs school system and served on the Human Relations Commission.

Wittenberg University Deals With Racist Graffiti

Wittenberg University's Concerned Black Students group held its 45th annual Walkout event this week. The event commemorates a 1969 incident when 38 of the school's 45 black students walked off campus when they alleged the university failed to address their concerns about unequal treatment.

Springfield City School will benefit from Ohio GOP House budget

Springfield City School administrators have had time to digest the school funding plan released by Ohio House Republicans. Under the House plan, schools will receive nearly $121 million less next year than in Governor John Kasich's plan. Springfield City Schools fare well under the House plan.

In their school funding budget, House Republicans increased per-pupil funding in Ohio from $5,000 in Kasich’s plan to $5,732 in 2014, which is the same amount that has been in place since 2009.

WestCAT Public Transportation Up and Running in Clark County

A new Clark County public transit system was launched on Monday. The new bus service will allow riders from remote parts of the county as well as the city, to connect to destinations all over the Miami Valley area.

WestCAT is the name of the new bus service and its buses began to roll on Monday. Bus routes will run Monday through Friday from western parts of Clark County which includes New Carlisle, Enon and Mad River Township.

Comedic Legend Jonathan Winters Had Deep Roots in Springfield, Dayton areas

Jonathan Winters, the legendary comedian who died Friday at the age of 87, had a strong connection to Springfield and Dayton. Andrew McGinn of the Springfield News-Sun had a revealing interview with Winters before his death.

Andrew McGinn says Winters loved growing up in Springfield and his roots can be traced to the Clark County city at a very young age.

Holocaust Survivor to speak in Springfield

Wittenberg will observe International Holocaust Rememberance Day by inviting John Koenigsberg to give a presentation Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Bayley Auditorium of the Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center.
