Bomb Threat Suspect Identified As Former Antioch Student

Police have identified a suspect allegedly responsible for calling in a bomb threat last week to Antioch University Midwest in Yellow Springs.  A man law enforcement believes committed the suspect is now in custody in Florida.

A week ago, Antioch University Midwest was evacuated and the building was searched, but no explosives were found. Police Chief Anthony Pettiford says an investigation has led law enforcement to detain Anthony Mark Thomas, who they believe made the call.

Yellow Springs High School 2013 graduate Paloma Wiggins is the creator of the Simply Women 5k Run/Walk for Women & Girls. For five years now, the fascinating project has improved sports opportunities for girls and women of all ages, as well as, raised the awareness of healthy lifestyles for young people.

Sumayah Chappelle Makes Debut at Big Lens Film Festival

Local film student Brittany Shyne is premiering her short film The Painted Lady at the Big Lens Film Festival on Thursday at the Neon Theater in Dayton. Both shows are sold out, but plans for another showing are in the works according to filmmaker Steve Bognar.

Ribbon Cutting Held for Springfield's Global Impact Stem Academy

Several dignitaries including State Senator Chris Widener and Mayor Warren Copeland gathered on the campus of Clark State University Monday afternoon for a ribbon cutting ceremony.  The event formally opened Springfield's Global Impact STEM Academy.

Widener called the academy the first of it's kind in the nation that will allow students to study while also gaining hands on experience in the agricultural bio-sciences field. After thanking Clark State President Dr. Jo Alice Blondin for helping provide a temporary location for the school, but Widener also talked about a permanent future site.

Clark County Family & Children Services hosting Summer Sky Event

Family and Children Services of Clark County has put together an event called Summer Sky. The organization wanted to provide a free, outdoor event for children and their families before the start of school next week.

Pam Meermans, of Family & Children Services, says this is the fifth time Summer Sky has been offered.  She feels it's a valuable opportunity for her organization to bond with the community.
