Sarah Buckingham

Community Voices Coordinator

Sarah's been listening to public radio since she was in the womb. She grew up in central Ohio and came to the Miami Valley to study Philosophy & Media Arts at Antioch College. Some of her previous radio experience includes Prometheus Radio Project in Philadelphia, PA, and Brattleboro Community Radio in Southern Vermont. Back in 2009, Sarah studied radio production at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland Maine. She's happy to be back in Ohio where she's been WYSO's Community Voices Coordinator since 2010.

Best of Miami Valley StoryCorps: Kim Clay & Vanessa Stanton-Clay

In honor of StoryCorps founder Dave Isay’s visit to Dayton, we’re re-broadcasting some of our favorite Miami Valley StoryCorps interviews.

Kim Clay lost his job when GM closed its plant in Moraine, OH closed in December of 2008. When Kim and his wife Vanessa visited the StoryCorps booth in 2010, they were struggling with unemployment and the loss of their health insurance. They also attended the Oscars that year. Kim was both subject and cinematographer in the locally-produced documentary, "The Last Truck: Closing of a GM Plant." Kim and Vanessa live in Dayton.

Best of Miami Valley StoryCorps: Mary Morgan & Joy Schwab

In honor of StoryCorps founder Dave Isay’s visit to Dayton, we’re re-broadcasting some of our favorite Miami Valley StoryCorps interviews, recorded in 2010.

Mary Morgan was the first woman to run for Dayton City Commission in 1969. She went to the StoryCorps booth with her long-time friend Joy Schwab, a librarian from Beavercreek, to talk about what led her to run for office. Morgan describes herself as an "Appalachian migrant anti-racist feminist."

Best of Miami Valley StoryCorps: Doug & Elizabeth Cline

In honor of StoryCorps founder Dave Isay’s visit to Dayton, we’re re-broadcasting some of our favorite Miami Valley StoryCorps interviews, recorded in 2010.

In March of that year, Doug Cline experienced a major heart attack. He was only 51 years old. A month later, Doug and his wife Elizabeth went to the StoryCorps booth to talk about the moment that shook their lives and forced them to re-evaluate their day-to-day priorities.
