Juliet Fromholt has been listening to WYSO for as long as she can remember.  She began volunteering at the station while also serving as Program Director and General Manager at WWSU, the student station at her
alma mater, Wright State University.  Juliet does many things at WYSO including overseeing the station's web and social media presence, producing news features, and hosting two music programs.  In her spare time, Juliet serves as music editor DaytonMostMetro.com and is proud to serve as a board member for the Antioch Writers' Workshop and Cityfolk.

My Latex Brain

My Latex Brain's current lineup of Brian Hoops, Chris Corn and Roger Owsley has been around since 2005 and last fall the trio won the 2012 Dayton Band Playoffs at Canal Street Tavern.  My Latex Brain visited the WYSO studios to perform a live set and talk about their experience in the playoffs and what's to come in 2013.

My Latex Brain will perform, Friday, February 2nd at Canal Street Tavern as part of the Dayton Does Dayton Music Festival.

HoliDayton Celebrates 10th Anniversary

This year marks the 10th anniversary of HoliDayton, a seasonal showcase of local music held most recently at Blind Bob's in the Oregon District.  Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt spoke with Poppy, the drummer for The Story Changes, about the annual event which features two stages of music from 10 local bands.

HoliDayton is Saturday, December 22 at Blind Bob's on 5th Street in Dayton.

Karan Singh and the Freshwater Live on Kaleidoscope

Karan Singh performs in front of a live studio audience at WYSO.

Rosebush and the Pursuit of Dreams is the recently released second album in what Karan Singh envisions as a trilogy beginning with his 2010 release, Last Year's Ghosts.  With this release Singh also continues his mission of using a percentage of his album sales to help provide a lifetime of fresh water to people around the world.  So far, his work has been able to provide fresh water to 4 individuals for the rest of their lives.

Ohio Departments of Aging and Veterans' Services Commemorate Pearl Harbor Day

The Ohio Departments of Aging and Veterans' Services is commemorating Pearl Harbor Day with a special installment of their War Era Story Project, including 19 stories written by current and former Ohioans about where they were and what they were doing on December 7, 1941.

The Department of Aging's Story Projects solicited stories of life during the Great Depression of the 1920s and 1930s from Ohioans who lived through it. More than 300 individuals sent in their recollections and lessons learned so that people of all ages today might get some perspective on our current economic situation.
